Columbian Lodge A.F. & A.M.

Located in Boston, MA - Instituted in 1795 by Paul Revere.

About Us

Columbian Lodge Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, located in the heart of Boston's historic downtown, is one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in the United States of America.  The Lodge was instituted by Most Worshipful Paul Revere, who served as Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts from 1795 to 1797.  He is not only a transcendent figure in the early history of the United states (his celebrated "Midnight Ride" heralded the start of the Revolutionary War ), but also a very significant contributor to Masonry in the New World.  He described his election as Grand Master of Massachusetts as "The greatest happiness of his life!"

Our legacy, from our 1795 institution, provides a foundation to continue the mission for the current 185 members.  Columbian Lodge is an active, hardworking Lodge, well known for a rich tradition of ritual and charity.  Our monthly meetings consist of actively bringing in new candidates, conducting the normal business of the craft, and planning charitable events and contributions to our community.  Our officers meet regularly during the month to prepare themselves for the meeting ahead.  We donate both time and money to various charities, concentrating our efforts toward  greater Boston area non for profit organizations. We have hosted a basketball tournament for the Home for Little Wanderers for the last 15 years.  We are actively involved with the Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, myCHIP and many others.

Columbian Lodge is also known for its rich tradition of fellowship, taking time to enjoy our lives both within and without the Lodge.  After our work of the evening has been  completed we take refuge in the fruits of our labor and enjoy dinner, merriment and bonding with our fellow brothers.  We enjoy entertainment during our dinners such as bag pipes, steel drum players and the occasional story teller or historic character re-inactor.  Family is very important to our members, and so we involve our wives and significant others by hosting Ladies Night events throughout the year.

In summary, Columbian Lodge A. F. & A. M. takes pride in the fraternal fellowship, respect for family values, and belief in a Supreme Being. Our membership transcends all race, creed and color.  Strong leadership, dedicated officers and historic pride make us the lodge we are today.
