2017 Brother of the Year Award ~ Columbian Lodge

Recognizing the Columbian Lodge Brother of the Year is both the most challenging and pleasurable events a Master of our Lodge must contemplate. The Brother of the Year Award recognizes an individual Brother who is an example of what it means to be a Columbian Brother.  The recipient of this award receives a pewter bowl with his name engraved; in addition, his name is etched upon the Paul Revere Bowl with those Brothers who came before him and put on display in our Lodge apartments.

It is always a challenge to recognize a single Brother - one who distinguishes himself as unique among a sea of worthy men. This year’s recipient made for a much easier task.

This Brother has labored tirelessly on behalf of our Lodge. His energy, his zeal and his attachment to our Lodge are unrivaled. If Columbian Lodge is at work, he is not only present, but he was most likely instrumental in helping put it in motion.  His cheerful demeanor makes even our tedious labors an enjoyable task. This Brother shows patience when others hurry. He shows temperance when others tend toward excess. When those about him shout he tends toward silence and circumspection, but makes his thoughts known in an ever-pleasant manner.

For the past two years his creativity has lent flourish to our refreshments. Now for the next two years I expect his equanimity will lend strength and support to our Master and our Lodge.

The 2017 Columbian Lodge Brother of the Year is our new Senior Warden, Brother Michael Yotts
