R. W. James A. Manninen

R. W. James A. Manninen, beloved member of Columbian Lodge A. F. & A. M., died on Dec. 12, 2015 at the age of 77. A lifelong resident of Walpole MA, James was educated at Walpole HS and Babson College. He worked at Norwood Cadillac from 1958 to 1967 before 'getting a break' and joining the brokerage house Estabrook & Co. He ultimately retired in May 2011 as Executive Vice President from Janney Montgomery Scott. A passionate supporter of his community, Jim helped found the Walpole Scholarship Foundation of which he was particularly proud, was a Town Trust Fund Commissioner, Election official, Walpole Public Library Trustee, a finance committee member of the Walpole Area Visiting Nurse Association and Town of Walpole Emergency Medical Aid member, belonging to most of these organizations for over 30 years. He was a devoted member and treasurer of Epiphany Church for many years and most recently an active member and leader of the Anglican Church of the Redeemer. A celebrated Mason of more than 50 years, Jim was raised in Azure Lodge in Walpole, where he eventually became Master, and an active member of Columbian Lodge in Boston, where he sponsor many members. He served as Chaplain for both for over 30 years. His commitment to the craft included membership in a significant number of both York Rite and Ancient Scottish Rite bodies and culminated when he was Coroneted a 33rd Degree Mason by his peers in 2005. Jim was also a diehard New England Patriots fan. Jim will be remembered for his upbeat, outgoing and warm personality.
